Celebrating 20 Years of the Lithuania-Kazakhstan Diplomatic Relations

June 15 saw the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Kazakh embassy will mark the occasion on June 21, organizing a celebratory concert, which will feature Amir Tebenikhin, a famous pianist. Over these 20 years, Kazakhstan and Lithuania have built constructive, cooperative relations based on mutual understanding, respect, and support.

In 2011, during the first official visit of Dalia Grybauskaitė, the Lithuanian president, a joint statement was made, emphasizing the aspiration shared by Kazakhstan and Lithuania to strengthen the bilateral ties and to work even closer together as part of multilateral, international cooperation. Apart from political relations, both countries have been actively expanding their economic and trade ties. Business people of both countries attend business and economic forums, exhibitions, and conferences.

The specialists from the Penki Kontinentai Group are also constantly following the events in the Kazakh market and monitoring the dominating trends. For as long as 13 years, the BS/2 company, a group member, has provided this country’s banking sector with IT solutions and services. The company is successfully cooperating with Kazakh banks, such as Halyk Bank, BTA Bank, ATF Bank (UniCredit Group), Alliance Bank, Nurbank, Bank CenterCredit, VTB, Sberbank, etc.

BS/2 Kazakhstan, a subsidiary company, established in 2010, helps expand this business even further. 15 branches of the company dot the country; their 150 employees supply self-service hardware, install software, and provide maintenance services. Based on many years of experience, BS/2’s operation has significantly raised service provision in the Kazakh banking sector.

According to Idrakas Dadašavas, the CEO of Penki Kontinentai, Kazakhstan became a platform from which business could be expanded into other Asian markets thanks to its geographic location.

Says Dadašavas: “Starting from Kazakhstan, we managed to enter the markets of Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia. As far as we can see from our frequent meetings with banks and other financial institutions—their feedback being positive—we have been moving in the right direction.”

„Penki Kontinentai member companies actively participate in various IT, telecommunications, and banking technology events held in Kazakhstan. This year it is the fifth time that Penki Kontinentai specialists have attended KITEL, a conference and exhibition that traditionally gathers together telecommunications and IT companies, government institutions, and financial institutions. At the event, Penki Kontinentai specialists have presented their new IT solutions, arranged several business meetings, visited the exhibition stands of their partners, and learned about the banking sector’s current situation.

In September 2012, BS/2 planned to organize a conference for Kazakh, Uzbek, and Kyrgyz banks and financial institutions.
