On June 10-11 this year in London (Great Britain), “European ATMs 2010” exhibition and conference organized by the International ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) was held. Annually, the event brings together the representatives of banks and other financial institutions, equipment manufacturers, suppliers and vendors giving them the opportunity to participate in various discussions, share experiences, and learn about the latest ATM solutions.

The focus of the conference this year is outsourcing that helps not only optimize the cost, but also allows increasing the flexibility in resource management, which makes it easier to adapt to constantly changing customer demands. Therefore, it is no wonder that this year’s event attracted over 300 participants not only from Europe, but also from all over the world. The representatives of Penkių Kontinentų Bankinės Technologijos (BS/2) also participated. Along with them, Žoržas Šarafanovičius, the Director of Retail Business Division of Bank Snoras, also visited the event who mainly focused on banking experience and the proposed innovations.

According to Paulius Bučelis, the Director of BS/2 Sales Department, such events are the great opportunity to share the good experience of providing business process outsourcing.

“Such world-class companies as Wincor Nixdorf, Diebold, Auriga, and First Data support this event and present their projects here; thus, one can hear a lot of new and useful things, discuss with experts from different countries, or gain some experience. It was interesting to hear how market participants have adapted to the changed conditions caused by the crisis, and what lessons they have learnt. We were also interested in how the consistently restrictive requirements for payment card systems and the European lawmakers are assessed and enforced. Much attention was paid to the topical SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) area problems,” said P. Bučelis.

Dozens of different presentations of projects were organized in the conference, where it was possible to hear about the practical benefits of outsourcing, the experience of banks and their individual units, and future prospects. The representatives of BS/2 were particularly interested in the presentation of the project on “Maximising ATM availability in the Baltic region” by First Data company, because they made quite a significant contribution to the implementation of this project.

BS/2 that belongs to the group of companies Penki Kontinentai specializes in the areas of banking activity optimization and hiring business processes by developing and supplying the software for optimizing the performance of ATMs and self-service facilities. The company’s solutions are recognized in more than 60 countries worldwide.
